When we meet with the client for the third and final meeting we showed him our rough cut and he liked and was happy it could be seen as an ident and the colours and symbols have been used as he requested. The only complaint was that he wanted the transition between the idents and logo to be smoother.

We went back into editing and we tried to rectify the issue but it was rather difficult for us to do that because the logo was a different composition made in after effects and it was placed on the timeline of the video in final cut and therefore it was simply impossible for us to put a transition for us to put a transition because everytime we put a transition on it would not have any effect on the ident therefore we left it the was it was.

Therefore I went back to aftereffects and began to try and edit the logo to give it a better transition but I couldn't as it was inserted in a video it was made like I was trying to make a different video.
It was very difficult for me to put a smoother transition and therefore I left it the was it was.

Write a series of production diary posts that reflects on your creative decision-making outcomes under the following headings:

i.meeting deadlines; (weekly diary of progress to schedule)

ii.quality management; (meeting to discuss the production quality and fitness for purpose of each of the idents - what will be discussed/renegotiated with client before production starts)

Teamworking; (weekly team log of contributions and management of the production)

11th April- Week 1
1st meeting with client David Pearson:

meeting deadlines; (weekly diary of progress to schedule)
In our group we had to discuss withing ourselves our idea that each member of the team had in mind for the ident, we the went forward to look at the brief annotate it and we had 20 mins to prepare questions for the client such as rebranding, the theme and idea, if the ident will be a stop motion video or live video. We didn't have an issue as our group was able to meet the deadline for pre-production.

quality management; (meeting to discuss the production quality and fitness for purpose of each of the idents - what will be discussed/renegotiated with the client before production starts)

We negotiated with the client the time for making the ident especially because it is stop motion and it will take longer to make and fit that time scale making more shots.

Team working; (weekly team log of contributions and management of the production):
We also had to consider ethical considerations. When coming to the meeting was something that had to be hugely considered for example the budget as most of it would go towards food and public transport. We also had to consider whether the idents would be formal or informal but be more specific about it.

19th April - Week 2:
Pre-production 10 min meeting with Mr Barton about the stability of ident ideas as a group.

i. meeting deadlines; (weekly diary of progress to schedule)
For our group, we had issues as we had to change the idea since it did not quite meet the brief.
I suggested that the idents should revolve around the different enrichment subjects within the college using dolls. However, in terms of meeting the deadline, we found this successful as we knew today was about making sure we had a production portfolio for the following week for the client.

ii. quality management; (meeting to discuss the production quality and fitness for purpose of each of the idents - what will be discussed/renegotiated with client before production starts)
As Mr Barton suggested it would be like to the audience as if we would be showing them what programmes are coming up next e.g. showing the content of the college rather than the actual building of the college.

Another point that Mr Barton told us to keep in mind is that we should consider the image as well as the subject e.g. our college fashion shows, community days, chaplaincy, course work e.g. media and art exhibitions. A point he also made was to stay clear of the 'fighting' idea that we first had as it would not have been a strong enough idea.

  1. Team working; (weekly team log of contributions and management of the production)
In terms of the 'suite' of ideas, Mr Barton emphasised showing 4 things that happen across the year at different points e.g. during Easter the fashion show and when the Christmas/talent show is usually around Christmas/ December times. Team working will be most effective here as we as a group of 4 would split into 'two' so we can work on 2 idents each.

25th April- week 3:
Pitching of pre-production portfolio to client: David Pearson

  1. meeting deadlines; (weekly diary of progress to schedule)
Firstly when it came to the pitch as a team we were able to meet the deadline as we had the portfolio on hand with the designs that Dejhanea brought along and I got all the budget and some of the planning done. Everyone also has responsibilities in the team (crew roles) which were successful.

  1. quality management; (meeting to discuss the production quality and fitness for purpose of each of the idents - what will be discussed/renegotiated with client before production starts)
The management in our team was successful as we managed to negotiate the time of the animated ident in 20 seconds. The 'suite' of our ident was also good as it fitted the purpose throughout. We talked about the use of the enrichment activities with dolls across the 4 suites. The things were mostly justified during the pitch as well as the designs and the visual style.

  1. Team working; (weekly team log of contributions and management of the production)
Team-working went well. this is because as the director, l had the most roles which were budget, initial idea, crew roles etc. I delivered this in the pitch successfully. Dejhanea was responsible for the designs and storyboard. The designs included sketched, mock-ups etc. She is also the assistant director so this worked well in terms of enhancing the visual style for the director. Deniesha did the legal and ethical constraints and Tims responsible for the suite storyboards, time scaling, and production breakdowns.

4th May - Week4:

  1. meeting deadlines; (weekly diary of progress to schedule)
This week we started working on our ident before we could do anything we had to make the set.  we just focused firstly mainly on making on all the set that we were going o be using, first of all, we did the set for the fashion show and then for the rest after that we went into the green room and began to film our first ident. Our production was stopped as we had to buy magnets as the dolls weren't able to stand on their own. Also this week we were able to make our first mock up.
  1. quality management; (meeting to discuss the production quality and fitness for purpose of each of the idents - what will be discussed/renegotiated with client before production starts)
The management in our team was a very big success this week as we all worked effectively and we able to design the sets quickly to very good and artist standards and we started filming and were able to make our first mock up and continue filming.
  1. Team working; (weekly team log of contributions and management of the production)
We all worked effectively as a team, Dejhanea and Denisha were able to make one set and I and Tim were able to make another that we were able to use throughout the whole ident, as were filming Dejhanea and Denisha were working on making sure the other sets were made.

Final week - Week 5:
  1. meeting deadlines; (weekly diary of progress to schedule)
This week we all finished up the idents and all the idents pictures were given to me to edit and I edited all the idents and was able to upload it and get it up before the deadline. We were also able to get feedback from the client and the Target audience
  1. quality management; (meeting to discuss the production quality and fitness for purpose of each of the idents - what will be discussed/renegotiated with client before production starts)
All the things that we negotiated with the client we incorporated into our idents. We made sure that our ident was very much recognisable as an ident and we included all the colours and the symbols requested by the brief and the client. We also used appropriate tone and music for the idents for it to appeal to the parents as well.
  1. Team working; (weekly team log of contributions and management of the production)
I feel that we worked well together this week as all the idents were done, the onky problem was that all the four idents were left to me to edit and it was tiring for me as I had to work till late.

Task 6b) Write a series of reports – each of your will take a section each to deliver (See Group Member)

Explain what you have tried to accomplish through the suite of idents (Tim)

Through these idents we tried to portray them as being lively and real, by incorporating the theme into the idents. The theme was ‘’ they may have life’’.  We can see in this ident that we tried to bring the dolls to live, by making them do things that the students do at the college. The fact that we have dolls of different skin colours shows the audience that this College is very diverse in terms of ethnicity and background. In my opinion, we did a good job in terms of having a few dolls, but we could have used with a lot more darker skin dolls just to get the point of diversity across a little bit more.  For the fashion show, we wanted to show the different kinds of people that attend the college with their different styles and personality, I feel like we could have incorporated more movements just to show off the bodies of the dolls from all angles.  With the Oscars ident we wanted to show that everyone was a winner, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time to add other dolls to make it look convincing, we could have improved on this by spending our time more wisely and moving quicker with these idents but then again we did stop motion and we are using dolls to takes up a lot more time than we anticipated. In the talent show ident we wanted the audience to know that the college is gifted with students with different talents, no matter what talent they have they can always make good use of it at the college. However, we only showed signing and dancing I feel like we could have incorporated maybe 2 more dolls with talents. In general, i am happy with the idents they could have been a little bit better if we prioritized our time more.

How have you worked to try to achieve what you set out to do - explain decisions made with detailed examples from own work (DEJ)
iii. How have you worked to try to achieve what you set out to do -
explain sections made with detailed examples from own work

1. One example of how we tried to achieve our intended purpose was the idea of using the dolls to fit into the colour scheme of the ident according to the brief.

The reason why I felt as a group this was successful is because we used the colour purple in all our idents imaginatively. For example using the purple backdrop for the art show was successful as it shows up well on camera as we were shooting the sequence. This was also successful as we worked to the brief which means making them happy as well as our audience.
this is an example of a costume that is used from our initial idea. it is also appropriate as it matches the colour theme of purple.

To add to this, the reason why the use of the dolls fitting into the theme was important is because it was about making it look appropriate to our audience and the colours and the colours of the college. Using different colours may have risked loosing the meaning to the theme of our idents.

2. However, as a group we had a problem with shooting one our idents which was the football idea in which the dolls were meant to be playing football in purple CTK kits. However, we had to change the idea which made it a limitation to us as time was lost. Instead we had to replace it with the first initial idea of the art show.

The reason we had to create this ident instead of the football ident was because we were unable to find small kits for dolls and struggled with this. We also did not have enough professional resources to create kits for them which is why we had to interpret it differently.

Example:

3. The most important thing of what we tried to achieve as a group was using 'stop motion' itself as a way of making our idents.

The reason why we did this is because we used dolls in which we wanted to make it look like they were coming to life by using images and putting them together as a video to make them move. This also liked to our theme ' may they have life' in which the dolls should have life and express themselves and being diverse which is the idea we were going for.

4. Another important factor of how we worked to achieve what we set out to do was the actual use of dolls instead of using real people for our idents.

The reason why we did this is because Michael our director throughout it would be creative and the best idea to use toward our ident theme. This is important because the client also had to approve of it and had to be carried out successfully.

5. Lastly what we worked well in what we set out to do was using the costumes from the or production designs to link to the actual ident.

In some of the idents, the costumes were used from the designs but other were added in to make it look more creative. For example, the purple dress for the ident was intentional and worked well as it was in the design for our brief and fit in with the colour scheme. In addition, another thing that we used successfully was the trophy which was used for the Oscar media show which was purple. This was not intentional as we could have used a golden trophy however it made the ident look more appealing.
Evaluate how you conducted your roles (Individual)

-->
I was the animator/editor/director of my group, the positives about how I conducted my roles are;
I was involved and oversaw every single animation I didn't just go with what we have I made sure we did it until we got it right and when it came to editing I was quick to edit all the idents. I was also overseeing the set making and the overall general idea I made sure the sets were made to professional standards and very artist by the contributions of my group members. I was present for almost all the idents shoot/animation the day I wasn't present I made sure everyone understood what was meant to be done.
STRENGTHS.
I joined Dej and Denisha to make the fashion set, while Denisha bought the magnets, us building the set helped us a lot as it made our job a lot easier as we didn't have to constantly building sets we just had to add more to the set to make it appropriate for a different ident. We decided to split the work into two, I and Tim did most of the animation while Dej and Denisha worked on the set making.  After we finished filming I was given all the footage and I edited all the footage, it was tiring for me as it was only me that was editing all the footage.
Our work was made very easy as well as we didn't have to wait a long time to buy the dolls because Dej had dolls already and they were suitable for the ident. We were lucky to be able to use resources from the art room to build our set which actually cost us more time. As we were shooting the first ident we found out that it was too much work for one person to do, so we decided to do it all together however due to time constraints we had to split up the work as Dej and Denisha were making the set and Me and Tim were working on the idents e.g filming.
Negatives: I wasn't present for one of the shoots/animation but however my group worked effectively without me being there.  When had to come in during the half term I couldn’t make it the rest of the group cracked on with the filming and when I got back I made up for my time lost as I edited all the footage. We ordered our magnets late so we had to pause our production until the magnets came and we then continued our filming.
During filming we got locked out of the green room and weren’t able to shoot for sometime because the teacher didn’t like the way the room looked and what we should have done better was arrange it more which we offered to do but he refused and close down the room, we had to come in some other time during the half term to finish filming.

Evaluate the success of the process or responding to the brief and the effectiveness of your group organisation - informed by the feedback of others (Micheal)

Our Ident was very successful in the way it appeared as 100% of the feedback we got to stated that it was very much recognisable as an ident and we met the brief as it stated in the brief that we have to make an ident and also it means that we got our timing right and every other property that actually made our ident recognisable as one. Our group was very effective as we were able to create the project to be able to be recognised it as an ident within the amount of time that we were had given that stop motion can eat up a lot of time and can be very frustrating we kept our cool and got the job done.

However, our ident wasn't very much successful in getting the theme across only 15% of the audience were able to get what the theme of the ident was. We, however, feel that if the views took more look towards the ident and became familiar with it,  they would be able to get the theme of the ident. Or we could have portrayed the theme in a different way. However, as a team, I feel we worked well to ensure the theme was passed across to the audience.

According to the feedback that we got, we did a good job on the brand identity as a high majority of the viewers were able to get the brand identity however it was a bit conflicted with certain brand identities as well, as a team we would have done more to make the identity clearer.

From the feedback that we got our ident showed that our ident didn't pass the idea of it been seasonal as only 7.89% of the audience could see that it was and 92.37% of the others couldn't. We didn't have enough time to make it seasonal but however, we tried to incorporate seasonal concepts such as the activities going on are been done during different seasons in the school year.

From the feedback that we collected we could see that our ident appealed to 92.31% of our target audience which is a very high majority and therefore we have also met the brief as it was written that we had to make content that was appealing to the target audience and we have done just that. Working together as a group it was easy for us to making something appealing to the target audience as we fall into that sort of category as well.

COMPARISM.
POSITIVES

TIME:  we can see the ident above we can see that it's recognisable as an ident because it has a logo and it meets the time requirements, the time requirement the idents above is usually between 20 - 30 seconds and our idents matched that time as non of our idents are more than 30 seconds and non is less than 20 seconds.

MUSIC: In the ident above we can hear the music playing and it ties in very well with the ident on the screen and it seems appropriate for where it has been used. For our Ident below we did very well with the music as it ties in perfectly well the idea of the talent show that we are trying to convey and also the music is appropriate for the Tv channel we are trying to brand as the one above ties into the brand identity of the channel.

RECOGNISABLE AS AN IDENT: Our Ident is highly recognisable as an ident as we have discussed above our ident ties into the normal conventions of an ident such as the time which is usually 20 to 30 seconds and also the music, it also recognisable as a ident as it brands the channel and also we have used broadcast save colours so that we don't have black spots on our ident.

COLOURS: In the Ident above we can see that the channel has a specific colour scheme which they had to stick to  in their idents which would have tied in with the organisation. Our ident had this as we stuck to the colour purple which is the colour of the organisation that we are trying to brand and therefore the ident and the tv channel can tie back to the parent organisation and also we have met the requirements set by the client.

COSTUMES: In the ident above we can see that they have used certain costumes even though most of them are Computer Generated Images which make the ident look a lot more convincing. In our ident we haven't used Computer Generated Images because we had to build our own set and buy our own costumes which when used made our idents look a lot more convincing and more recognisable as an ident.

NEGATIVES

Jumps/ not smooth: In the ident above we can see that it is very smooth and we do not see any jump cuts and it has been made to professional standards and it looks appealing and very good, however in our ident below the camera jumps and we see camera movements which make the ident look not very professional and not as clear and as smooth as the one above which has been made to professional standard.

CAMERA ANGLE MOVES: In the ident above we do see camera movements but the angles are smooth but in our ident the camera angles do move which make the ident very shaky and makes it look unprofessional.

DIVERSITY PROBLEMS: In the ident above we do not have any problem with divesity as the logo is indifferent colours and in that way we can say that its very diverse however our ident below isn't very diverse as it has only one character in it that represents only one ethnic group however in all our idents we had more that one character which represents two or more ethnic groups.

PROBLEMES WITH THE SET: In the ident above we see that there are no problems with the set as it has been done properly  as it looks very convincing and well made or done, they probably must have used CGI which has been made very well. In our ident we can see most part of the idents breaking apart which makes our ident look less professional. This happened because we didn't have much time and most of the things we did in that ident was last minute.

SOUND: The sound used in the ident above is very appealing to the ident as it matches the visual and its also appropriate for its target audience as well.
However our ident below in some way meets the requirement as the sound matches the visual but the sound doesn't fit very well with the target audience it might seem boring to them.

Explain the changes made to the ident resulting from various legal and ethical and financial constraints and unforeseen challenges. (Deniesha)

v) Deniesha

In our ident their where may constraints that we had to fact. The first constraint that we had faced was that there was not enough dolls with different ethnic backgrounds for instance we did to have any aisian or muslim dolls. This is really bad due to the fact that this could receive some backlash as not being diverse. Diversity is needed due to the fact that in our college we have many different cultures and this will not be presented as well in our idents as we had hoped that it would be, this means that people may be angry that we were not diverse which is an ethical issue.

Another thing that wasn't foreseen was the fact that the dolls where unable to stand up and we had even ordered magnets so that they would be able to move, there was a big impact on the making of the idents as we had to find other ways in which we could make sure they stand up without us holding them so we had to use wooden stand that were kept out of shoots so that we could move the dolls around.

Another change that we had to make was our ident idea, we had changed our football ident for our art ident the reason being is that we thought that it would be near to impossible to create this as the dolls will be doing a lot of moving and as we had to use a wooden stand then this would been seen which would make it unrealistic which would mean that this is unprofessional so instead we decided to change it to the art show due to the fact that we were able to move the doll around without the wooden stand being shown.

The green room was also an issue due to the fact that other students will also want to use the green room which means that we would have to share the room with other students and this meant that some of the lighting would go to them which then meant that it would be difficult so therefore we would have to work our way around it.

6a

Task 6a) Actively collect feedback on the success of responding to the brief. Interview the client and collect feedback on:
The success of the product.
We were able to deliver the product to the client and the client gave us a very encouraging feedback as he said that the slow motion that we have decided to incorporate in the ident really worked and that it serves it purpose as it is very much recognisable as an ident. However, the only thing he complained about was that towards the end of the ident when the name of the channels is been revealed didn't look great he said we should have used a transition to make it look smoother.

the process of responding to their brief and working with the client
Regarding our response towards the brief and the client, positively I feel that we were able to get the task done effectively as we could, we ended up been able to produce 4 different idents which ran for 20 seconds, we were also able to add on the colours and the symbols in which the client requested for. However, though we were able to create a suite of idents we weren't able to keep it seasonal as the brief and the client had requested. This was because we didn't have enough time to implement the colours for each season and also most of the seasonal colours will not go with the colour that was requested by the client and the brief.
the effectiveness of your group organisation
Positives: We were very organised as we split the work into two and split ourselves into two groups we are a team of 4, one group dealt with designing the set while the other group dealt with the actual animation for two idents then we swap it around the other team doing the animation will now make the set while the other team making the set will the animate. Most of days we had every team member present.

Negatives: Few times maybe two or three times a group member or two wasn't present including me on one occasion, and the whole burden of the whole animating and set making fell on few people which are frustrating and sometimes not enough work gets done which eats up our production time.
Also, there were sometimes a particular group was having problems with the camera and the other group had to help out which mad everyone's attention divided and mistakes were made and to rectify them we had to start from the beginning which also again ate into out precious time.

Risk ASSESMENT

The risk that we have is one of the crew members bumping into a table, due to the fact that when we are filming the lights are going to be off, and we would be lighting up the backdrop that we are working leaving nearly the whole room dark and we might not be able to see and therefore bump into one if the  tables.
The solution for this risk is that we are going to push the table to the far end of the room where we will not visit often

The biggest risk that we have is tripping on the wires laid out on the floor and because it's going to be dark there is a high possibility that we will trip over this wires. The solution to this is that we are going to cover the wires with the green screen material that flows to the floor.

Legislation & regulation or technical broadcast constraints (copyright issues and where you will sources these from, technical broadcast requirements colour safe and resolution, Permissions and Shooting Licences)

Equality and Diversity

Equality and Diversity issues ( Discrimination Act 1995)

The Equality Act 2010. The Equality Act became law in October 2010. It replaced previous legislation (such as the Race Relations Act 1976 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995) and ensures consistency in what employers and employees need to do to make their workplaces a fair environment and comply with the law. The unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.

The equality act was made in 2010 this was so that people will stop discriminating against people’s race, age or the sex. The reason why this could cause issues, as we are using dolls we can not discriminate against their race such as the race of them. The reason that this could become problematic because people may feel as if they are discriminating against colour so we will have to find dolls with diverse colours such as black and white dolls. Also due to the fact that we have more than one race within our college so, therefore, this is needed to showcase the different races that we have in our college. Age will not be an issue due to the fact that we are using dolls and they all look of the same age however if we add younger dolls then this will look too childish due to the fact that we are already using dolls which are already childlike. We will have many different types of dolls in our ident we will add male and female dolls, the reason for this is to show equality between the different sex within our college.
Copyright issues:

Copyright Act 1988: Copyright,
The Copyright, Designs and Broadcast safe
is the current UK copyright law. It gives the creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works the right to control the ways in which their material may be used.

The copyrights act is used to ensure that the materials and resources we use are not copied or taken from other materials and this is known as stealing which is why people have their material copyrighted. To ensure this does not happen within our group we will have to source materials that are copyright free, for example the music that we might use.
Also, following the copyright rules we have to take into consideration that we are branding our dolls in a certain way and that they have the correct 'image' in which we want them to follow in our group.

Broadcast safe:
Broadcast-safe video (broadcast legal or legal signal) is a term used in the broadcast industry to define video and audio compliant with the technical or regulatory broadcast requirements of the target area or region the feed might be broadcasting to.

Colour is important in an ident because it is how a channel is recognized for example the BBC is known for using the colour red which is a primary colour which means it is a main and dominant colour.  This is  broadcast safe. This means that only certain colours can be broadcasted on the ident to prevent any visual issues of how it might look on screen. For example since we are using purple we have to keep within the values of  235 or less on the idents otherwise it will come up too bright and can cause a screen buzz or 'clipping'.
Another important colour we have to take into consideration is green, although the only part of green we are using is the football pitch on our ident we have to make sure that the shot is not to bright.

Crew Roles
